How to install Counter-Strike 1.6

Many friends ask me “How to install Counter-Strike?” and “What are system requirements for installing Counter-Strike?”
So, I am writing a step by step tutorial on installing Counter-Strike 1.6 on a Windows based computer.

System Requirements:
The minimum requirements for running Counter-Strike 1.6 are a 500Mhz Processor, 96MB RAM, 16MB video card and around 512MB of free disk space.
However, the specifications for a smooth gameplay would be an Intel Core i3 Processor, 2GB RAM, 1GB video card and around 2GB of free disk space.
For superb results, I recommend the following system specifications:
Processor: Intel Core i7
RAM: at least 4GB
Video Card: at least 2GB *
Hard Disk: at least 4GB free space **
* NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 would be great
** Enough for lots of maps and cached files

Installation:
These installation steps are tested on Windows XP/2003/7/8

Download cs16v7_cspak.zip
Extract all files from zip file in any folder.
Run cs16full_v7.exe.
Run cs16patch_full_V21.exe .
In case you get file missing errors during the setup, just ignore them!
Press next on each step until the setup is completed.

A shortcut named “Counter-Strike 1.6” would be created on your desktop once the game is successfully installed.

Port Forwarding on DSL Modem / Router

These steps are for FiberHome AN1020-25 ADSL Wireless Modem provided by PTCL Broadband.
Open http://192.168.1.1/ in your Web Browser.
A dialog will appear asking for Username and Password.
Enter admin in both Username and Password.
If the Username and Password are correct, you will see a page like below:



Now, click on “Advanced Setup” and then click on “NAT“:


Click on “Add” and enter the Local IP and Port you want to forward.
Here I am forwarding Port Number 27015 of UDP which is default port for Counter-Strike 1.6 Server.
This port is being forwarded to my computer’s IP which is 192.168.1.2

In case you are setting up a Web Server like WAMP/XAMPP, the default HTTP Port Number is 80 of TCP
Click “Save/Apply”.
Your port should be forwarded successfully now!

How To Setup Counter Strike 1.6 Servers

Requirements

1. Computer
   You can setup Counter-Strike 1.6 Server on any computer.
   This tutorial is for computers running Windows Operating System (Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 / Windows 7)


2. Internet Connection
   For Online Server, an Internet Connection is required.
   This tutorial is for home computers running on DSL Connection or WiMAX connection.
   For 16 slots server, a 1Mb internet connection is sufficient.
   For best performance, a 4Mb internet connection is preferred which can support upto 32 players.


3. Static IP
   The Public IP address of dsl connections is Dynamic.
   Which means on every restart of router the Public IP is changed.
   To make the IP static you have to request your DSL provider to provide you a Static IP address.
   PTCL users can get Static IP easily for a monthly charge of 200 rupees.
   Call 1218 from your ptcl number to get a Static IP on your dsl connection.


4. UPS
   To make your server 24/7 your computer must stay on all the times.
   For that you will need a UPS that will provide backup in case of power outages.

Installation Steps

1. Download Server
   Download Dedicated Server Setup from here hlds_cspak.zip
   Extract the zip file to any folder.


2. Server Configuration
   Open server.cfg file in cstrike folder and change “CS 1.6 Server by CounterStrike.Com.Pk” to server name of your choice.
   Right-Click on START_SERVER.bat file and click Edit.
   Make any required changes and save the files by pressing Ctrl + s
   Now Double-Click on START_SERVER.bat
   If everything goes fine, the server console will be started like below.



3. Testing
   This step is just to make sure that you have properly configured the server.
   Open your game and click on Add Server.
   Enter your Private IP with Port and click Add.
   If you can see your server running, you can proceed to the next step.


4. Open Firewall
   Now you have to open your Windows Firewall so that other people can connect to your server.
   You need to open UDP port 27015 on your windows firewall.
   Follow steps on this link to open Windows Firewall ports:

   At this stage, you have created a LAN server which means people connected to your Router can now join your server.


5. Port Forwarding
   Now you have to “Forward the ports from your Router to your Computer” so that Online Players can connect to your server.
   In simple words, all the people connecting to your Router on port 27015 will be forwarded to the port 27015 of your Computer.
   There are hundreds of thousands of router models with different port forwading methods each.

   For other routers, just google about it and you will find the steps.


6. Testing
   This step is to make sure the firewall and ports are properly opened.
   Send your Public IP to your frind and ask him to join your server (182.180.66.151:27015)
   To find your Public IP, visit this link : http://www.whatismyip.com/
   
   Now you have created an Online Server which means people from all around the world can join your server.

Client Cheats Counter Strike 1.3

Anyone can use these to alter their personal settings.

cl_observercrosshair (default 1) - Set to 1 to enable crosshairs in Observer mode, 0 to disable.
cl_hidefrags (default 1)         - Set to 1 to hide all frag/death counts on the Scoreboard but
                                   your own, 0 to show.
hud_centerid (default 0)         - Set to 1 to center auto-ID text on screen, 0 to have auto-ID
                                   text in the bottom left corner.
lefthand (default 1)             - Set to 1 to use left hand, 0 to use right.
max_shells X                     - X = maximum number of shells at one time
max_smokepuffs X                 - X = max. number of smoke puffs at one time
fastsprites X                    - x = 0 : regular transparent smoke grenade sprites
                                   x = 1 : simple transparent smoke grenade sprites (default)
                                   x = 2 : VERY simple transparent smoke grenade sprites.
adjust_crosshair                 - Each time you type this into the console your crosshair changes
                                   colour. There are 5 colours to choose from.
con_color                        - Change the colour of your HUD. Like con_color "256 256 256"
                                   numeric values can be found by looking in most paint packages.
timeleft                         - Tells you how much time is left on the map
setinfo vgui_menus X             - {X = 0 or 1, 0 disables VGUI menus, 1 enables VGUI menus}
                                   (also available through the "Play CS" ] "Customize" menu)
ah (default 1)                   - Set to 1 to enable auto-help, 0 to disable. Auto-help gives
                                   the player hint messages throughout the game.

Note:
If the buy weapon system malfunctions, disable the vgui through the "Play CS" ]
"Customize" menu.

Infokey settings. Type "setinfo" to check the status of all infokey settings. To change
one, type "setinfo [keyname] [value]". InfoKey Keynames dm (default 1) Set to 1 to display
map briefings after loading new levels, 0 to disable.


Cheat:
------

type in console : LISTPLAYERS
you will see players numbers then type: KICK #[number of a player you want to kick]
anti-kicking cheat is impossible

POD BOT CHEATS:

minbotskill/maxbotskill skill - The skill level will be within this range if you add a bot
                                without specifying the skill level.
addbot [skill] [team] [name]  - Add a bot with these attributes. Teams: 1 = T, 2 = CT
botchat on|off                - Turn on or off bot chatting
botsvotemap mapnumber         - Orders all dead Bots to vote for Map mapnumber, where mapnumber
                                is a valid number of a map in your mapcycle.
jasonmode on|off              - Controls bot knife-only mode.
botsfollowuser bots           - Sets the maximum number of bots in the team can follow the same
                                user (when radio command "Follow Me" is used).
                                The default is 3.
detailnames on|off            - Turn this on to display the skill number behind names and the
                                [POD] before the name.
collectexperience on|off      - Turn this on to let the bots collect experience from the map
                                they're playing.
shootthruwalls on|off         - This variable specifies if bots are allowed to shoot through
                                walls if they saw an enemy or if they heard someone on the other
                                side of a wall or door.
killbots                      - Kills all bots in the map.
newmap mapname                - Substitution for the "map" command you're used to. Loads a new map.
                                This will work 100% with Bots and no client should get disconnected.
podbotmenu                    - Displays the User-Menu by default bound to the "=" key.
removebots                    - Kicks all bots off of the server. Note that this also changes the
                                min_bots and max_bots variables to 0.

Type cheat:
bind "/" "setinfo model ../chick"
After you press "/" and continue press, other player saw you "is a chick".
You can type list cheat:
bind / "setinfo model ../orange"
bind / "setinfo model ../feather"
bind / "setinfo model ../oranget"
bind / "setinfo model ../head"
bind / "setinfo model ../hostage"
or you type "mcache", List word that you can cheat,too.

Server Cheats Counter Strike 1.3

mp_startmoney (default 800)   - Sets the amount of money players start with.
mp_logdetail (default 0)      - Bitwise cvar to set the level of detail for
                                logging attacks (bit 0: log enemy.
                                attacks, bit 1: log teammate attacks).
mp_fadetoblack (default 0)    - When set to 1, player's screen fades to black for
                                the remainder of the round when he dies (hud still works
                                normally so player can chat and see the scores, etc.)
                                Overrides mp_forcechasecam.
mp_buytime (default 1.5)      - Designate the desired amount of buy time for each round.
                                Min buy time is .5 minutes. No max buy time.
mp_winlimit (default 0)       - Will cycle the map after one team reaches this many wins.
mp_limitteams (default 2)     - Maximum number of players that one team can have over the
                                other. To entirely disable team limiting, set to 0.
sv_restartround (def. 0 sec)  - Time until the game restarts fresh, or 0 to not restart.
                                This will reset all frags, scores, weapons and money to default.
                                Use this to coordinate clan matches.
mp_autokick (default 1)       - Enable automatic team-killer banning and idle client kicking.
mp_autoteambalance (def.1)    - Toggles auto balancing of teams.
mp_chasecam (default 0)       - Limit observers to chase modes.
mp_c4timer (default 45 sec)   - C4 timer duration. Minimum of 15, maximum of 90.
mp_freezetime (default 6 sec) - The length in seconds of the Freeze period at the beginning
                                of rounds. Set to 0 to disable.
mp_roundtime (default 5 min)  - Min round time is 1 min. Max round time is 9 min. Supports
                                partial minutes (1.5 is 90 seconds).
mp_friendlyfire (default 0)   - Set to 1 to enable friendly fire, 0 to disable.
mp_timelimit (default 0 min)  - Period between map rotations.
mp_maxrounds (default 0)      - Maximum number of rounds to be played on a map, leave at 0
                                to obey mp_timelimit.
mp_footsteps (default 1)      - Set to 1 to enable footsteps, 0 to disable.
mp_flashlight (default 1)     - Set to 1 to enable the use of flashlights, 0 to disable.
mp_tkpunish 0/1               - if set to 1, TK'ers will sit out next round
mp_hostagepenalty X           - X = max. number of hostages you can kill before the server
                                boots you out. setting this to 0 will shut off this command
mp_logmessages 0/1            - used for server admins to spit out chat messages in their
                                log files.
mp_forcechasecam 0/1/2        - When set to 2, not allowed to spectate anyone...player's view
                                stays where the player dies. When set to 1 only allowed to
                                spectate player's own team when player dies. Default 0.
